Types Of Spanish Courses!

1. Spanish Proverbs, Thoughts and Interesting Facts:

Free positive proverbs, thoughts, or interesting facts in Spanish, will be sent daily to all those that give me an e-mail address.  It will contain a short proverb, thought or message with a vocabulary exercise, and a short word puzzle revealing the message in English. This course is free to all people!

2. Spanish Made Fun Beginning through First Year Class:

This class is for those that are beginners or have only had one year of Spanish.  I will combine 4 types of lessons for those that are starting out or need to review what they learned in less than two years of Spanish. (Variety is nice!) The first type of lesson is Cultural Experiences with Cognate Stories.  The second type of activity will be Targeted Vocabulary Themes with mnemonic devices or memory tricks. The third type of activity will be learning Spanish by Jokes.  The 4th type of lesson will be learning Spanish by Songs.

3. Cultural Experiences with Cognate Stories:

I will share my experiences and insights of living in and visiting other countries and cultures.  I have written 2 books about the places I have lived in and visited. I have taken students on trips to several places and will share what we have learned through shared events, memorable natives, and funny situations. My stories will be written and spoken in Spanglish, (English with every cognate written in Spanish) This is a quick way to learn the Spanish that you already know, but just don’t know that you know it.  Cognates are words similar in both languages, they look about the same, spelled about the same, pronounced about the same, and most importantly, mean the same in both languages. Normal writing and speech contain between 15%-30% cognates between Spanish and English! So, 15%-30% 0f the story will be in Spanish! That means at least 50-200 cognate words in each story or even more! The student won’t need to know a word of Spanish to understand the stories, but they will learn a lot of Spanish that they don’t know that they already know if they listen to and read the stories!

4. Targeted Vocabulary Lists with Memory Tricks:

Learn 25-40 words on certain vocabulary themes (weather, clothes, family, hobbies, etc…) as fast as you can write them down. Give me a chance! This method is not too good to be true. It is true! I focused on memorization research when I knew that I would teach a language that requires a lot of memorizations. Let’s face it, you must learn lots of vocabulary words to speak another language! With techniques that I have used with thousands of students over the 41 years, I can trick your mind into memorizing words very quickly. It fun and effective. Each lesson will contain a list of 25-40 words with a word document containing exercises that you can print and my techniques on an mp4 video tricking your mind, explaining the lesson and giving the answers!
(Each recording of me teaching the lesson is about an hour long. You can pause the video to do every exercise and then I will explain all the answers. Each lesson should take you about an hour and a half to two hours to complete the exercises and have my feedback. You can do this with your own schedule during the week.)

5. Learn Spanish by Jokes:

Each joke contains 50-100 words in Spanish. Every vocabulary word in the joke is on the Pretest. (You will see your Pretest scores increase with each joke that you practice!) There are practice exercises for the vocabulary. There are comprehension exercises for the meaning of the joke. (I want to make sure that you “get it”!) Each joke will have exercises that practice the first-year grammar principles based on the vocabulary of that joke. Each joke will have a variety of 10-12 exercises. Every lesson will have a word document containing exercises that you can print and an mp4 video with me explaining the lesson and giving the answers! (Each recording of me teaching the lesson is about an hour long. You can pause the video to do every exercise and then I will explain all the answers. Each lesson should take you about an hour and a half to two hours to complete the exercises and have my feedback. You can do this with your own schedule during the week.)

6. Spanish Made Fun Level 2 Intermediate to Advanced Course:

This class is for those that have studied two or more years of Spanish or have built up their vocabulary to the Intermediate or Advanced Levels. Because the songs, literature and videos use normal speech, the students should be familiar with most of the verb tenses.

7. Learn Spanish by Songs:

Each week we will listen to a song and study the lyrics of a song sung by a famous Spanish artist or group. Every word in the song is on the Pretest. (You will see your Pretest scores increase with each song that you practice!) We will search for cognates in the songs. There are practice exercises for the vocabulary. There are comprehension exercises for the meaning and symbolism of the songs. (I want to make sure that you “understand it”!) Each song will have exercises that practice the first year and second-year grammar principles based on the vocabulary of that song.

8. Learn Spanish by Native Speaker Literature and Videos:

Each week we will read a story, or a part of a longer story, written by a famous Spanish author. Or we will watch a short video taken from the internet that has a theme that coincides with the story we just read. The story or video is written or recorded in Spanish by native speakers. (Although if you are just interested in the story or video, you will be able to understand them even if you do not speak Spanish, as I will ask and answer enough comprehension questions about the vocabulary, symbols and meanings of the work.)
